Explore Sukkertoppen in the Danish Lake District

This hike has a little length - approximately 12 km. It includes wonderful nature experiences in the Søhøjlandet, the Danish Lake District, one of the most beautiful landscapes in East Jutland.

Around 1050-1100 Benedictine monks built the Monastery of Voer, close to the river Gudenåen and Mossø. Two hundred years later, the monks also built the canal Klosterkanalen and established a watermill - Klostermølle.

We follow Klosterkanalen and Gudenåen to the former paper mill / power plant at Vilholt. From here, the trip continues through Pindal Mose, and a little later the "ascent" to Sukkertoppen begins, 108 m above sea level.

On the summit of Sukkertoppen we will experience one of the kingdom's most beautiful views. After a break, we make the descent to Klostermølle parking.

Facts: We walk on forest paths, gravel roads and footpaths. The last third of the route is pretty hilly and the descent is a bit steep. In Pindal Mose, the surface can be damp. Most of the time we walk in forest / shade, but a few kilometers we walk in open terrain.

Tip: Bring water and snacks for the breaks along the way. If necessary, wear long trousers so ticks cannot bite you.
