Historical walk in Gislev

Although the dear Hans Christian Andersen did not write about the small town Gislev, with the large church, my thoughts often drift to Gislev when I occasionally hum Andersens wonderful poem "Where the road bends, there lies a town so fair."

For Gislev truly is a beautiful town, situated in the fertile soil of central Funen, where roads diverge and the proud self-owning farmers of Gislev have witnessed passing kings and great ecclesiastical meetings. In short, Gislev is filled with history.
