Aarhus during the occupation
A walking tour of central Aarhus with a focus on the occupation period, which was dramatic in Aarhus. The city was an important transport hub for the German occupation forces and the resistance movement had difficult working conditions.
The Royal Air Force bombed the harbour and the Gestapo headquarters at the University Colleges. There was black market trading, sabotage, informants, liquidations, large explosions and shortly before the liberation, many thousands of German refugees came to the city.
