Aars - The Capital of Vesthimmerland in Jutland
A visit to Aars starts just outside the town at the Borremose fortress. Around here, almost everything started.
You could sail to the fortress. You could travel from here to the rest of the world.
After our visit to the Borremose Fortress, we taker a short drive to be able to visit Aars by foot. I will tell you about the past, about art and about present day Aars.
The artist Per Kirkeby has left his mark on Aars. As Aars is best experienced by foot, we will walk a distance of approximately 3 km from the Museum of Contemporary Art to Vesthimmerland's museum. I will make sure you see Per Kirkeby's buildings and get a hang of what life in Aars is like. The museums provide insight into much of the area's development. From one of Denmark's largest finds, the Gundestrup cauldron to the most common pieces of our time.
