Copenhagen backstage - a guided tour behind the classic tourist attractions
A guided tour in Copenhagen's medieval city behind the classic tourist attractions.
We meet in front of the statue of Hans Christian Andersen at the Town Hall Square. After a short introduction, we head into Hans Christian Andersen's Copenhagen: Along Vester Voldgade we come to Skt. Pederstræde, where we visit the "White Library", explore some old courtyards and hear about the "Porn War" in 1970.
Through the old entertainment district, we pass quirky cafes and interesting galleries.
We greet Thorvaldsen's beautiful Christ figure in the cathedral and visit the old university library with the prison for unruly students.
Along Store Kannikestræde we pass The Round Tower, which once housed the Royal Book and Card Collection, where Hans Christian Andersen was a frequent visitor.
On the way further lies the design hotel "25 hours" with its surprisingly imaginative interior.
Next stop is The Film Roof: A wonderful roof terrace with a cafe and free screening of all the world's film hits.
Back on the street we pass Copenhagen's oldest tavern, we see the fantastic Blue Fish in Illum, and cross Gråbrødre Torv, a car-free oasis with coziness and lots of cafes.
Around the corner we meet Denmark's largest store for role-playing enthusiasts
On the last stage we find "Cafe Gl. Torv - The house with the green tree" where Lenin had lunch with Danish Socialists.
The guided tour ends back at The Town Hall Square.
