Guided tour in the idyllic Sønderho on the southern tip of the island Fanø.

We visit the church. A very interesting church and the church in Denmark with the most church ships.

After that we walk trough the small streets and paths of Sønderho. Between the beautiful old, thatched houses. In the old part of Sønderho 75 % of the houses are listed buildings.

Once Fanø was the home of the second largest sailing fleet in Denmark. Now tourism is the most important source of income for the island.

We go to Børsen. It used to be the harbour of Sønderho. However, wind and water has changed that.

When we walk in the small streets and paths you get a feeling of life in the old days. It might look idyllic; life was, however, sometimes hard. The men were mostly at sea. A couple of years in a row. During that time the women were in charge of everything: house, children, farming, fishing, money.

Of course I also tell about daily life on Fanø nowadays.

In order to come to Fanø you have to take the ferry from Esbjerg. It takes about 12 minutes. The walk is approximately 3 km.

The distance from the ferry in Nordby to Sønderho is 13 km.
