Løverodde – Hiking in Beautiful Nature
Do you wish for a guided hike in one of the most beautiful Danish fjords and forests. Guarantee for a great experience in wonderful nature.
Enjoying the quiet beauty of nature is best experienced in the middle of it. With the fjord being the epicentre of nature in Lillebælt, there is no better way to get into the nature than hiking at Løverodde and experience it all from the beach with the big forest as a background.
If we are lucky we experience the porpoise who hunt herrings in the fjord.
There is a possibility of hiking up to 16 km but I make sure we customise the tour according to your wishes and capability.

Trelde Næs Forest, a Guided Hike
Discover the forest Trelde Næs Skoven with a knowledgeable guide. The forest has been included in the Danish Nature Canon as resently as 2018. The Trelde Næs forest is located where Vejle Fjord opens into Lillebælt, the Little Belt.
You have the opportunity to experience a very dramatic landscape giving magnificent views beyond Vejle Fiord and the Little Belt. If the weather permits, we can see all the way to the island and nature sanctury Æbelø at North Funen.
At Trelde Næs we have regular landslides into the Little Belt and with the landslides big trees go down as well. Somehow it is like being in far distant countries. The lighthouse at the tip of Trelde Næs has been moved 3 times within the last 100 years due to the landslides.
The site is now owned by Fredericia Municipality and is a protected area. The Trelde Næs forest holds a rather exciting story. I begin my story with the 1919 nouveau riche, false guarantees and frauds and of Ane, a very special and rather determined lady who took up the fight against curious tourists as well as the German Wehrmacht all by herself.

A Hike in Syvårssøerne -The Seven Year Lakes – at Frederikshåb Plantation
Syvårssøerne, the Seven Year Lakes, at Frederikshåb Plantation is at moment one of Denmark's biggest natural attractions, as the water level in the mystical "Syvårssøerne" is very high, and numerous paths in the area are flooded. A hike here is an exciting experience.
I myself is very enthusiastic about this hike, where we walk around the big sand dunes in Randbøl moor. Here we will pass over the 17m high Stoltenberg. A sand dune shaped by the wind collecting sand on the otherwise flat and heather clad moorland. It is difficult here to believe that you are not in the big seaside dunes at the west coast by the North Sea.
The tour continues in Frederikshåb Plantation where we hike along the lakes Syvårssøerne. The "Seven Year Lakes" are not always here which is the mystical part as the lakes emerges and disappears in fluctuation with the groundwater level. For centuries it was noticed that they appeared around every seven years. The hike at Syvårssøerne is a hike you can do again and again every season of the year. No matter when you pass by, the nature is always beautiful – even in rain and clouded weather. If you bring kids along, the tour offers possibility for play time in the great sand dunes.
Besides the mystical and very beautiful nature, we will also encounter multiple historical sites from WW2 when Denmark was occupied by German forces and the German occupational forces used the area as a secret airfield. In the area there are among other things an airplane hiding spot, field kitchen, personal bunker fuel lines and a bunker for fuel.
A guided hike which is very exciting for kids as well as adults. -

Walk in Skamlingsbanken
A guided tour on Skamlingsbanken: hear about Denmark's national sentiments during the first half of the 19th century.
Steen Blicher started the first popular meetings of the Romantic Era on the hill Himmelbjerget in 1839. This became the inspiration for many subsequent popular meeting places around the entire country. In 1843 local farmers bought the area surrounding Southern Jutland's highest point, Skamlingsbanken, located approximately 10 km south of Kolding.
A guided tour on Skamlingsbanken will give you an in-depth picture of Denmark's national sentiments during a time when ideas about nation, language and nature were experiencing a revolution. After a Danish defeat in 1864, ceding Southern Jutland to Prussia, Skamlingsbanken became highly symbolic for the struggle to reunite the area with the rest of the realm.
The story about the events of 1864 and the separation and reincorporation of Southern Jutland certainly define this area and will be presented to you in a professional, interactive way. Narrations about these two historical events will be combined with the beautiful natural sights around, to not only give you an idea about the area but all of Denmark and its history as well.
Hikes with a guide
Being out in nature on a hike in the company of a local guide means that you do not have to worry about the route. That you get to where you want to go and on a route that the guide already knows and will show you.
During the hike, the guide can tell you about the area and its history, about nature, wildlife or the plants. The stories will of course reflect the topic of the tour you are on. On some of the guided walks, it is the wildlife that is in focus, on others it is the plants that are the focal point.
On some of the hikes, there is also an opportunity to collect herbs or other edibles from nature's lovely pantry.
We are happy to say go hiking with Guide Service Denmark and one of our hiking guides
