Trailblazing Women in Odenses Past

Beneath the cobbled streets of Odense lie the stories of women who defied the norms of their time—long before modern battles for equality began.

This city walk takes you through centuries of courage and innovation, from medieval convents to the late 19th century, when women began demanding their rightful place in society.

From the nuns of Nonnebakken, who ran hospitals and schools in an era when women’s voices were rarely heard, to Queen Christine, who left her mark on Odense through art and culture, women have shaped the city in countless ways.

As we wander through the streets, we also encounter Frida Schmidt, who opened new educational opportunities for women, and Marie Riising Rasmussen, who united women in the fight for voting rights.

Join this city walk and experience Odense through the eyes of the women who paved the way before 1900!

Please note: If this tour is booked as a stroller-friendly walk, there is a maximum capacity of seven strollers.
