A city walk in western Aarhus where you experience the city's diversity from City Vest to Bazar Vest.

In City Vest I talk about the idea behind the shopping centre, and we look at the now almost closed centre, where there used to be more than 60 shops and a cinema. City Vest must be rebuilt so that there will also be housing in the building and fewer shops than before.

From here we go over to Gjellerup Church and Fredens Torv. The church is of recent date and is located in a multicultural neighborhood, which characterizes its work. On the way, we pass the new district of Brabrand, where the "Comprehensive Plan" has been implemented.

Gellerupparken was started in 1968 and was designed according to the then concept of the Danish nuclear family. The apartments were large and modern and many moved from poor apartments in the centre of Aarhus to Gellerup. Since then, Gellerupparken was somewhat characterized by social problems. The comprehensive plan must now transform a burdened area into a district that matches the rest of Aarhus' employment and education level, income and security. The overall plan is quite far-reaching, and a lot has happened. Blocks are torn down. A city park has been created. The neighborhood has been opened up with a road through. There are workplaces, a new library and shops in the neighborhood, and many small apartments have been built. But there have also been many local protests. We'll see, and I'll tell you more about that.
