In the Name of Love

Are you on your honeymoon? Or do you have a soft spot for love stories both the tragic and sad ones and the happy ever afters? Or do you want to know more about wedding traditions in Denmark?

Join me on this city walk in the old streets of Copenhagen where we pass by many beautiful areas and buildings in the old city centre.

At the cathedral of Copenhagen, the Church of Our Lady, Vor Frue Kirke in the Latin Quarter of old Copenhagen, you will learn about the wedding traditions in Denmark. Where does the word Polterabend which is the Danish word for a Hen's or Stag night originate from and why should the grooms new purchased socks be ripped apart at the wedding party?

We continue down the cobbled streets where you get introduced to some of the love stories which has taken place here in our old city. You will hear about the famous king Christian 4th and all his wives and mistresses as well as the story of the princess Leonora Christine who ended her life imprisoned in Blåtårn - The Blue Tower in Copenhagen.

We will end the tour at Christiansborg, today's Parliament but once the Castle of Copenhagen. Standing in the shadows at the nearby Royal Stables and the Royal Theatre the story of Johan Struensee and Caroline Mathilde will be unfolded. The couple spent their last night together here before they were forever separated. This fascinating love story between the Queen Caroline Mathilde - married to the crazy king Christian 7th and the royal private Doctor Struensee has been filmed with the title A Royal Affair, in 2012. On this city tour you will see the real historical buildings and surroundings for this love affair!

Join this special tour where the buildings in old Copenhagen come alive and tell you the most amazing and tragic stories - all in the name of love!
