Denmark - a Design Nation

The big old masters such as Kaare Klint and Mogens Koch fosters in the 1920s and 1930s the idea of functional design and design for everybody. It fails at this point but the development continues after World War II, especially with the FDB (joined Danish cooperatives) design studio for furniture controlled by Børge Mogensen.

We look at the different elements in the design process as a collaboration between joinery, furniture designer and manufacturer as seen between the Rud Rasmussen Joinery and Kaare Klint and between Carl Hansen & Son and Hans Jørgen Wegner. This also includes the importance of the relationship between good design and good business.

We will start at Design Museum Denmark, and after that we continue to the flagship store of Carl Hansen & Son in Bredgade, Cph K.
