South Scania, From the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages

This tour will focus on history.

The first stop will be at Uppåkra/Opager, which at the end of the Iron Age and the beginning of the Viking Age might have been the largest city in the Nordic region. At the end of the Viking Age, the city was replaced by Lund.

From here, we drive eastwards, where we'll see Järrestad rock carvings from the Bronze Age near Simrishamn. Scania's most beautiful. Next stop is the marvelous stone setting "Ales Stenar" on a moraine hill facing the Baltic Sea. Is it a sunship or burial site and when is it from? There is still doubt about this. But it's impressive.

Then the tour goes west again, and we must see the Viking castle Trelleborg in the city of the same name. I want to tell about the Viking Age and find out if this castle is also one of Harald Bluetooth's ring fortresses.
