Sybergland and its abundant birdlife - the paradise of the Funen painters

Sybergland and its abundant birdlife -  The Funen Painters' paradise.

If you enjoy nature, birdlife, fresh air and the great outdoors, then you will love the re-established nature area Sybergland with its rich birdlife, and should join this guided nature walk.

The area has been named after one of the great Funen Painters, Fritz Syberg (1862-1939), who lived in Over Kærby, and found great inspiration for his paintings from the rolling landscape around the town.

The place also inspired the famous painter Johannes Larsen, where many of his painting from the area gives you an impression of how the landscape looked at the time of the Funen Painters (Fynbomalerne in Danish).

This beautiful nature landscape is divided into recreational zones, and nature areas with freswater meadows, where nature is allowed to recreate and evolve. A newly established lake brings life to both zones.

The area is gated, but no paths have been established. Visitors should also be aware that cattle graze in the nature reserve.

Practical footwear is highly recommended for this beautiful nature walk, where nature, wildlife and the art history of Funen come together. Bring binoculars if you want to also study the many birds in this area.
