About me
Copenhagen city centre and the northern suburbs of Copenhagen is my backyard. I have lived here all my life. When I am not here, I am travelling. I have done a great deal of that too. I travelled for work and for pleasure. So far I have visited 75 countries.
As a tour guide for visitors of the Copenhagen area, my own travel experience makes me put things into perspective. I can adjust my storytelling to many different nationalities, because I am able to compare Denmark with other cultures.
When I show visitors from abroad my "backyard", I like to focus on Danish culture. What is the Danish culture and life style? What is our relationship to our royal family, our democracy, our relationship with the world, our fairy tales and world famous Danish authors and other world famous people and products from Denmark, our relationship to food and alcohol, to the concept of "hygge", sustainability and whether our society is less divided in classes compared to other countries in the world. Those are some of the topics I like to address while showing some of my favorite places of this area to visitors.
When I am guiding visitors in Copenhagen, I prefer showing the different parts and neighbourhoods of the city and not only focus on the most touristy and usual sights of the inner city. I can show those too, but I like to show the diversity of the city, the people and life style of each neighbourhood. Copenhagen is full of beautiful old buildings and historical places. It is part of the charm, and history is part of the story, but the way and pace our city is developing also says a lot about the people who live here. This is what I like to show.
A tour around the different neighbourhoods requires a car, minibus, bicycles or time enough to go around by metro and buses. I prefer small groups. That way I can give a more personal experience and take visitors to places that will interest them the most.
North of Copenhagen I will be happy to show in the area around Rungsted and Hørsholm. I have lived here for 20+ years and I have a lot of stories to tell. However the whole stretch from Copenhagen to Elsinore driving up the coast is a very nice stretch and there is also a lot for me to show and tell. I will be happy to show my favorite places to visitors.
