Dybbøl and the War of 1864
The War of 1864 has had a significant impact on Denmark, and the Battle of Dybbøl is the decisive event of the war, which is also one of the most traumatic events in Danish history.
We will meet in the scenic surroundings at Dybbøl Banke, where I will take you back to 1864. I will talk about the political/strategic background of the war, the war itself, and the events leading up to the siege of the Dybbøl fortifications, concluding with the dramatic storm on April 18, 1864.
I have a military background and can therefore continuously supplement with strategic and tactical considerations regarding the war and the battle, as well as details about the soldiers’ equipment and training. I guarantee for a big and thought-provoking experience.
