About me
As a filosofer, historian and citizen of Elsinore I find great joy in showing visitors around in our beautiful city.
Elsinore has a vibrant history and a very intact old city centre which creates a connection back to the past. With cosy cobblestoned streets, where old half-timbered houses still stand from the 16 century. Small pubs with many original details. Historical buildings such as Kronborg Castle, The Carmeliter Monastery, Sankt Olai Cathedral as well as other intriging monuments and memorials.
I live in an old half-timbered house from 1770 myself, where the pub Kronborg used to be with its brothel up on the 2. floor: the house is situated in Strandgade right where the coastline used to be in the old times.
I strive to convey the citys old history through an understanding of the contemperary conditions in the 16th century and onwards until today via stories and anecdotes which primarily originates from Strandgade's lively sailors life that took place in the first historical time period (years 1426-1857) where foreign sailors spoke of Elsinore as the Marseilles of the North.
I also work as an outdoor guide and has great affection for our nature here in North Zealand. I take groups on bike rides along the coastline northwards and into the forests. We can go towards Denmarks first cottage area, the beautiful Hornbæk and further up to Gilleleje. The nature sorrounding Elsinore and up along the North coast is very beautiful, powerfull and exiting to explore enriched as it is with historical depth.
I also do hiking trips in the forests.
