A Journey Through the History of Copenhagen

From a medieval fishing village to a modern capital - history, hidden details and local perspectives.

Copenhagen is much more than beautiful buildings and famous landmarks. Its history is hidden in the streets, squares and small details that most visitors pass without noticing.

We begin at the statue of Absalon, the bishop and statesman who helped transform a small harbour settlement into the Danish capital. From there, we explore the historic city centre and hear stories of kings, merchants, students and ordinary Copenhageners who shaped the city over the centuries.

Along the way, we climb the Round Tower, King Christian IV’s remarkable observatory and one of the most iconic landmarks from Copenhagen’s golden age of growth and learning.

The tour ends at Torvehallerne, Copenhagen's modern food market, where the city's long traditions of trade, food and social life continue today. Here we round off the experience with a traditional Danish pastry or an ice cream, depending on the weather, and a chance to chat about the stories and places we have explored together.

This walking tour is particularly well suited to small groups looking for a relaxed and personal experience with plenty of opportunities for questions, conversation and local insights.
