Guided tour in Nordby on the island Fanø

Enjoy a guided tour in the tiny streets of Nordby on the island Fanø, second smallest community but one in Denmark.

Let us take a walk in the small streets and paths of Nordby on Fanø. The second smallest community in Denmark.

Fanø has a long and very interesting history. Once the island was the home of the second largest sailing fleet in Denmark. Now tourism is the most important source of income.

The old part of Nordby is charming with the small streets and the old thatched houses.

When we walk in the small streets and paths you get a feeling of life in the old days. It might look idyllic; life was, however, sometimes hard. The men were mostly at sea. A couple of years in a row. During that time the women were in charge of everything: house, children, farming, fishing, money.

Now Fanø is a modern society. Our history and traditions are, however, with us also in our daily life. We are very proud of our island.

In order to come to Fanø you have to take the ferry from Esbjerg. It takes about 12 minutes. The walk is approx. 3 km
