Langelinie - a Cultural Historical Walk in Faaborg

Langelinie  - a cultural-historical walk at the promenade in Faaborg.

We will meet at the parking area Chr. D. IXs vej near by the old railway station. It is an interesting and varied walk just less than 2 hours.

From there we walk to the harbour and follow the promenade, Langeline, with the unique sloping stone setting of beautifully carved stone towards the sea. Along the seafront you can enjoy the view of the small islands at the archipelago, Bjørnø, Svelmø, Avernakø-Korshavn and Horne Land. It is an impressive sight no matter what the weather is like.

The seafront has great cultural and historical interest and tells us about the advance of Faaborg during more than 100 years.

Here is Old and New Assistens Churchyard, and the Jewish burial ground. Here are houses from different ages and green parks.

I will tell you about the life on this passage during more than 100 years and about all the interesting sights we pass by - including fight with England and graves from famous Funen painters and English soldiers killed during World War II.

On our walk back we will walk through Østerbrogade with old idyllic townhouses in different colours, where hollyhock and roses are growing up the walls.

When we end our walk, there is a possibility for a swim at the Harbour Bassin if you would like.
