Lovely City Walk in Lund
On the walk, you will see both the beautiful Grand Hotel and the historic street Klostergatan. I will also show you Kattesund and Drottens church ruins, and we will pass Stäket, which is now a restaurant, but the building dates back to 1570 and was previously owned by the fascinating Gørvel Fadersdotter Sparre.
On our way to the cathedral from the 1100s, we pass Apoteket Svanen, featuring an interesting early 20th-century interior. I will talk about the cathedral from the outside, and the group can then go inside and take a look - it is very impressive.
The university and the Historical Museum are located right behind the cathedral, which we pass to explore the historical context of Lund and its famous university. We will discuss Lund's early history as a hub for the Scandinavian transition from Norse paganism and Viking society to Christianity and the Middle Ages. We will also talk about how Lund has been important to Denmark, and how its position as a religious center, and later as a university and cultural city in Skåne, makes Lund a significant city for both Sweden and Denmark.
We can finish the tour at one of the town's cozy cafés or patisseries.
