It is almost impossible to visit Odense without listening to some of the interesting stories about the famous fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen who was born in Odense.
A guided tour of the city of Odense in the footsteps of Hans Christian Andersen is an obvious starting point for getting to know the city centre and Odense.
During this guided tour of the old city centre, you will pass the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen and see the spot where his mother used to work as a laundress. We will visit the Cathedral, Odense Domkirke, where he was confirmed and see the place where the old theatre used to be and he first fell in love with the world of theatre. At Fruens Bøge we can walk through the forest, find a secret cave, jump over stepping stones to ford a stream, and kids can play around in the natural playground. We can even organise role-playing games that take interest and age-group into consideration.

Medieval Monasteries of Odense
In the Middle Ages, the many monasteries in Odense were a source of knowledge, medicine, and salvation. It was an economic giant that erected the majestic buildings that, in some places, still tower over the beautiful city center.
The monasteries connected the city with God, the king, and the pope, making Odense an international and royal city in the early Middle Ages.
Thus, Odense is part of a history that international bestselling authors have successfully conveyed. Umberto Eco and Jan Guillou are just a few of the names that have immortalized the history of nuns, monks, and monasteries.
And in all modesty, I will bring you into the fantastic tale of Odense's six medieval monasteries. Join me on a journey back to the Middle Ages, a journey that covers everything from Odense Castle to the bishop's current private residence.

Odense, Vollsmose Housing District
The Area Vollsmose is controversial, and often appears in the headlines of the Danish press. Unfortunately, this picture is distorted and without nuances.
Through my work, I am very well aquainted with this neighbourhood. Vollsmose has been named after a swamp, and this type of landscape is still recognizable between the tenements, townhouses and areas with detached houses. Vollsmose is a meltingpot of traditional Danish lifestyle and the mulicultural and social variety of an international, modern neighbourhood. All in all, Vollsmose is an inspiring and nice place to live.
If you only know about Vollsmose from the media, this is your chance to exchange second-hand opinion with direct knowledge, based on experience. Take part in this guided tour and see for yourself. There are a great many really nice people here.
I have worked with one of the cooperative housing societies in this area, so I am very well informed about the neighbourhood.

Guided Tour Through New Odense – Culture, Music and Renewal of a City
Meeting point is in front of Odense Koncerthus and the tour starts with the story of a changing Odense and its cultural life
Odense Koncerthus is the home of Odense Symphony Orchestra and is, despite its 40 years still the centre of classical music in Odense
The neighbouring building Odeon is a completely different story: Odeon was opened in 2017 and is a modern music- and cultural house, built for big shows and concerts. We step into the lobby and get an impression of the architecture and possibilities of the house.
From Odeon there are only a few steps to the centre of the exciting new part of Odense, the area around and on the now closed road Thomas B. Thrigesgade. The road carved its way straight through central Odense and after it was closed some years ago, possibilities arose for a change of the city. New neighbourhoods, new urban areas and shopping arcades. The transformation has been long and hard but now Odense has almost reached its goal "New Odense".
There is so much to see and many questions to answer, so join the tour and learn about the big town that wanted to be a city!

Odense, New Districts at the Harbour
Join a guided city tour through the exciting harbor area of Odense. Odense's new district is undergoing vibrant development, and I have been involved in its planning from the very beginning.
This is the story of the industrial harbor, now transformed into residential quarters. The new residential areas are a mix of owned and rented apartments, complemented by a delightful fusion of new corporate headquarters amidst old industrial buildings, with landmarks like the Nordatlantisk Hus and the old Toldbod guiding the transformation.
What makes this place special is its ability to blend different architectural styles and functions into a harmonious whole, where life and culture thrive. Listen to the story from the perspective of the rental world and discover the exciting journey from industry to innovation along the Odense harbor.

Downtown Odense – from busy street to urban city centre
In June 2014, the busiest road through Odense, Thomas B. Thriges Gade with traffic exceeding 25,000 cars a day, was closed. Immediately afterwards, the gigantic project of building a completely new city centre began.
It took approximately eight years, and today the result can be seen. I have followed the project closely from the start until the finish and I look forward to take my guests on a whirlwind tour of the new district.
The tour takes you both above and below ground and offers both fascinating stories and magnificent dramas.

At the same time, Odense has managed to maintain a distinctive character as an open, green and airy city and you can still see why Odense for many years has had a reputation for being a town with mostly villas. There are lovely walks along the river through the parks and you can follow the river all the way to Fruens Bøge and Odense Zoo. From there you can choose to either stroll back or sail back with the river boat, Odense Åfart. If you want a guided tour on the river, no problem. We can do that as well.
Odense has a number of exciting museums such as Hans Christian Andersen's House, Hans Christian Andersen's Childhood Home, the Railway Museum and the Tidens Samling - Danish costume and interior through decades. All the museums are worth a visit. Also the open-air museum the Funen Village, Den Fynske Landsby, the museum Møntergården and also Odense Cathedral, where you can see the bones of Canute the Saint in the crypt below the cathedral.
