Langelinie – a Cultural Historical Walk in Faaborg
Langelinie – a cultural-historical walk at the promenade in Faaborg.
We will meet at the parking area Chr. D. IXs vej near by the old railway station. It is an interesting and varied walk just less than 2 hours.
From there we walk to the harbour and follow the promenade, Langeline, with the unique sloping stone setting of beautifully carved stone towards the sea. Along the seafront you can enjoy the view of the small islands at the archipelago, Bjørnø, Svelmø, Avernakø-Korshavn and Horne Land. It is an impressive sight no matter what the weather is like.
The seafront has great cultural and historical interest and tells us about the advance of Faaborg during more than 100 years.
Here is Old and New Assistens Churchyard, and the Jewish burial ground. Here are houses from different ages and green parks.
I will tell you about the life on this passage during more than 100 years and about all the interesting sights we pass by – including fight with England and graves from famous Funen painters and English soldiers killed during World War II.
On our walk back we will walk through Østerbrogade with old idyllic townhouses in different colours, where hollyhock and roses are growing up the walls.
When we end our walk, there is a possibility for a swim at the Harbour Bassin if you would like.

The Old Town Museum in Aarhus
The Old Town Museum in Aarhus is the world's first open-air museum for the culture and history of market towns, and first opened its doors in 1909.
Today the museum is visited by more than 350,000 guests a year, and has been rewarded the maximum 3 stars by the world-famous Guide Michelin.
The museum houses 75 houses from different areas in Denmark, and walking around the Old Town Museum is like jumping into the time machine and experiencing life as it was in a typical Danish city from the 16th to the 20th century, complete with shops, horse drawn carriages and people dressed as they would have at the time of Hans Christian Andersen the famous Danish fairytale writer.I invite you inside many of the historic buildings, including the building that used to be opposite Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home in Odense, which was where he was first introduced to the wonderful world of books. I shall also show you the 17th-century pharmacy packed with mysterious medicines and the associated Baroque pharmacy gardens with about 100 different herbs.
Are you more interested in recent history and do you remember Bob Dylan, the hippies and your first television? Then you can also experience the year 1974 which is now part of the Old Town Museum. In this part of the museum I can walk you down the avenue of memories, where we stop at the sausage trolley, flatten our noses at window at Poul's Radio or visit the collective.
Whether you are fascinated by old or recent history it is also a good idea to set aside time to enjoy some traditional Danish cakes from The Old Town Bakery as well as a cup of tea or coffee after the tour. -

Aarhus – City of Knowledge
Why are danish universities so good, and what makes Aarhus a good place to study?
Aarhus is the danish city with the liveliest population and the highest IQ! This dynamic pearl of a city is located on the east coast of Jutland facing Kattegat and it is home to a university with about 30.000 students. Their joie de vivre and eagerness and youthful energy evidently leaves its mark on the atmosphere and face of the city.
We will see how and why while walking across the most beautiful campus in the country, the Universitetsparken in Aarhus. Until the nineteenthirties, the area was taken up by allotments. At that time the landscape designes worked a small miracle and the beautiful buildings were designed by the world renowned architects from C. F. Møllers tegnestue. The result was spectacular – but by and by the university grew, however, buildings were expanded and new ones were built. Finally a decision had to be reached, to either bulid more or keep the trees and hills, the small lakes and the brook – and consequently to move some of the institutes elsewhere. Some academic activities had to move to a new home.
We will also visit some parts of these new academic areas. The tour starts in front of the Institute for Geoscience, we wil start by traversing the original Universitetsparken and also visit some of the newer parts of the complete Campus.

Royal Copenhagen Tour – City Walk and Rosenborg Castle
Experience one of Denmark's most well-preserved castles. Rosenborg is home to the Danish crown jewels, but also has a unique collection of art, furniture, and quirky items.
We will explore the favorite castle of king Christian IV, known as the great "builder king" in Danish history. We will admire the magnificent furniture and decorated rooms, while learning about the sometimes funny, sometimes sad stories of kings and queens of the past.
Experience the story of Christian IV's death and see the treasures from his legendary battle against the Swedes, which provided inspiration for one of Denmark's national anthems.
Learn about the royal scandal that resulted in the creation of the current Queen's Crown and discover the sarcastic "gift" that a king gave to his unfaithful wife.
We start the tour with a visit to Rosenborg Castle, which was previously the kings' summer house outside Copenhagen's city limits. We visit the well-preserved rooms where the royal family previously lived and see the crown jewels in the basement, which are some of Europe's oldest.
Afterwards, we will stroll through the King's Garden, greeting Hans Christian Andersen's statue along the way, and wander through king Frederik V's distinguished "City of Frederik" to Amalienborg Palace. Here you can admire one of the most beautiful palace squares in Northern Europe, admire the royal guards, and learn why the four mansions of Amalienborg jointly became the royal family's permanent Copenhagen residence.
Depending on how early you want to start the tour, we can finish by seeing the royal guard exchange at noon. The tour can also be extended to a long city walk in Copenhagen.

A Hike in Syvårssøerne -The Seven Year Lakes – at Frederikshåb Plantation
Syvårssøerne, the Seven Year Lakes, at Frederikshåb Plantation is at moment one of Denmark's biggest natural attractions, as the water level in the mystical "Syvårssøerne" is very high, and numerous paths in the area are flooded. A hike here is an exciting experience.
I myself is very enthusiastic about this hike, where we walk around the big sand dunes in Randbøl moor. Here we will pass over the 17m high Stoltenberg. A sand dune shaped by the wind collecting sand on the otherwise flat and heather clad moorland. It is difficult here to believe that you are not in the big seaside dunes at the west coast by the North Sea.
The tour continues in Frederikshåb Plantation where we hike along the lakes Syvårssøerne. The "Seven Year Lakes" are not always here which is the mystical part as the lakes emerges and disappears in fluctuation with the groundwater level. For centuries it was noticed that they appeared around every seven years. The hike at Syvårssøerne is a hike you can do again and again every season of the year. No matter when you pass by, the nature is always beautiful – even in rain and clouded weather. If you bring kids along, the tour offers possibility for play time in the great sand dunes.
Besides the mystical and very beautiful nature, we will also encounter multiple historical sites from WW2 when Denmark was occupied by German forces and the German occupational forces used the area as a secret airfield. In the area there are among other things an airplane hiding spot, field kitchen, personal bunker fuel lines and a bunker for fuel.
A guided hike which is very exciting for kids as well as adults. -

Aarhus Northern Cemetery
The history of Aarhus based on the great men and women buried at Nordre Kirkegaard, the Northern Cemetery.
Nordre Kirkegaard was founded in 1876 in order to relieve the pressure of too many burials at the then existing Søndre Kirkegaard, the Southern Cemetery which was situated where Raadhusparken, the City Hall Park now is.Nordre Kirkegaard soon became a much prefered place of burial for the citizens of Aarhus because of the environment and rural landscape just north of the city. Today the entire area is part of the city. Today the cemetery takes up an area of 14,8 hectars.
Buried at Nordre Kirkegaard are a number of former mayors of Aarhus, including perhaps the most popular mayor ever in the city's history Bernhardt Jensen alongside various Aarhus celebrities. On this guided tour I reveal the history of Aarhus by means of the various celebrities buried at Aarhus Nordre Kirkegaard which also give a good hint of how Aarhus grew and developed from the middle of the 19th century to the present day.

Walking tour in Skagen
In Skagen, I can offer you an unforgettable walking tour by combining the town's history, culture, and unique nature.
At the Skagen Museum, the history centers on the many fascinating artists who lived in Skagen at the end of the 19th century, and naturally, we will also visit the painter Michael Anchers House during the tour.
Skagen Church is the replacement for the sand-buried church and dates from 1841. The church was closely connected to life in Skagen and served as a natural gathering place for fishermen, residents, and artists alike. I will, of course, share that history with you. Afterwards, we will see the town hall, with its beautiful architectural details in the building that has held the soul of the town from when Skagen was a small fishing village to its current status as a cultural town with an international reputation.
We'll continue to the fishing harbour and the marina, where I'll talk about Skagen as Denmark's largest fishing port in the past and its role today. We'll pass several notable buildings in Skagen, such as the Skagen Fish Restaurant and Brøndums Hotel, before the tour concludes in Østerby, where the fishermen lived, and we'll look out towards the Vippefyret, the lighthouse.

Guided Tour Through New Odense – Culture, Music and Renewal of a City
Meeting point is in front of Odense Koncerthus and the tour starts with the story of a changing Odense and its cultural life
Odense Koncerthus is the home of Odense Symphony Orchestra and is, despite its 40 years still the centre of classical music in Odense
The neighbouring building Odeon is a completely different story: Odeon was opened in 2017 and is a modern music- and cultural house, built for big shows and concerts. We step into the lobby and get an impression of the architecture and possibilities of the house.
From Odeon there are only a few steps to the centre of the exciting new part of Odense, the area around and on the now closed road Thomas B. Thrigesgade. The road carved its way straight through central Odense and after it was closed some years ago, possibilities arose for a change of the city. New neighbourhoods, new urban areas and shopping arcades. The transformation has been long and hard but now Odense has almost reached its goal "New Odense".
There is so much to see and many questions to answer, so join the tour and learn about the big town that wanted to be a city!
Vi siger med glæde lad dine børn komme med på guidet tur med Guideservice Danmark.
